New Quarries Lodge of Mark Master Masons

Charity

Charity is important in Masonry. The New Quarries Lodge has been, on the one hand, regularly contributing both to Grand Lodge and local charitable causes, as well as ad hoc when natural disasters or humanitarian crises occurred.

The Lodge currently holds Grand Patron status with the Mark Benevolent Fund of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of England and Wales and its Districts and Lodges Overseas. In addition, from its inception, the Lodge haas been annually contributing to the ‘Elisabeth’s Bread’, a free lunch scheme to destitute persons by the St. Elisabeth monastery in Vienna-Landstraße, Austria. The Lodge furthermore contributed to support Ukrainian refugees and Turkish earthquake victims. (The New Shores Lodge of Royal Ark Mariner is a contributor to the Grand Master’s Keystone Fund.)

By autumn 2024, at the New Quarries Lodge’s 15th consecration anniversary, the Lodge has contributed some €53,000 towards these charitable projects.

The charity account of the Lodge is funded by voluntary contributions of its members – the Lodge suggests contributing the same amount as of the annual dues to the charity account – and by decisions of the Lodge on further contributions from its general account.

In addition to charitable actions, the Lodge has set aside funds to support members in financial difficulties.
